ZERO FINANCIAL CONCERNS

Podcast

I suppose what I am grateful for, being raised on my hard knock life is that I have zero financial concerns. Finances really don’t concern me. I know I’ll never run out of money.

Perhaps the more critical question to ask yourself is money for what, money towards what ends?

1. Money as “security” or freedom from care?

The first thought to consider is money as a means of buffer, money as not a tool for buying stuff, but instead, money as a metaphorical buffer in order to not concern yourself about things.

2. Money as startup capital?

The next thought then is is money a tool for a start up capital? But for what?

Then the question is, what if you could do it all without financial investment?

I’m starting to think more and more, the intelligence of creative constraints. Money as a creative constraint the basic notion is this:

How far can you go without having to buy something new?

Ancient Etymology: The Ancient Roman or Ancient Greek Litmus Test

The website that I use more than Google is wiktionary.org. Typically what I do is this;

When there is a word, a concept or thing that I’m curious about, I go to wiktionary.org and I study the history or the etymology of it.

Why is this so beneficial? It gives me a greater clarity about the concept or thing, for example when studying the notion of “finance“; discovering that ultimately it just means finish. Therefore, maybe the wise way to think about an approach to finance is to think about the end?

Security, Risk?

Risk— rischiare— to jeopardize, to rush into danger?

Interesting; when studying this, it seems that the notion of risk may be a modern day one, as it only goes back to the old Italian. It doesn’t seem to go back to the ancient Roman or Greek.

Not being a fool!

  1. Not making big decisions at night, when you’re tired, or about to sleep.
  2. Not making decisions when you’re “hot headed”. Cool, rational logic, hard, slow, enforced decisions are best.
  3. No irrational passion with decision making

Tracking is not an issue, I just don’t want to be disturbed, distracted, or off railed

I think right now a lot of concerns about internet privacy have to do with tracking, etc. But for me ultimately, the more critical thing is about annoyance, distractions, roadblocks, barriers, “if I get a new phone”notifications”, or distractions.

“Do not disturb”! I don’t want to be disturbed, or off-railed when I’m focusing insanely hard on something!

How to Think Critically

Critical, kritikos, means to judge.

To think critically means to wisely judge things, whether you deem it fit or not.

Or, judge it as being profitable or not, or advantageous or not.

Steering clear of foolishness?

There is no such thing as good or bad, or evil. To me it all comes down to wise or foolish.

What is foolish, foolishness, foolish behavior? Typically things which can cause permanent bodily mutilation, or a traumatic death. Driving fast, racing, texting while driving, drinking while driving or being high while driving etc.

What is the point of thinking?

A life of pure theory divorced from action seems a bit flaccid. I believe that your thoughts should also be in accordance with your actions.

For example, my thoughts or philosophies on fitness and weightlifting; I actually apply it to my own approach, and my thoughts and thinking often come to me after much experimentation.

Action first, thoughts later.

Don’t be a slave to one school of philosophy

This is where it is a bad idea to identify too strongly with any school of thought; because ultimately you’re going to just become another follower in a slave of it. Better instead to just be a solo individual. For example, Nietzsche, Plato, Socrates etc.

The Philosophy of Fitness

Why fitness, what is the point of fitness?

1. Anti-form Nazis

One mega critique I have is people who I call “form Nazis“; that is, they put too much attention into “form“. There’s no such thing as form. Instead, I call it leverage.

The purpose of leverage; moving more weight!

2. Fitness goals for men versus women?

I think for men, the goal behind fitness is towards dominance, going beyond. Maybe for women it is towards beautification.

At the gym, the most dominant person isn’t the biggest, the most muscular or the buffest, instead it is the strongest. The strongest person at the gym is the most dominant.

3. The different schools of bodybuilding?

Street Photography Mastery

How does one master street photography? Some thoughts:

1. First, apply street photography as an ethos and approach to all forms of your photography.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to draw a fine line between “street photography“, and other forms of photography.

Why is this such a critical distinction? Because I think the street photography approach is like a muscle; the more we practice it in our every day lives, every day, all day, the quicker our reaction times, compositional skills, and way we can see.

2. Spend more time outside?

I don’t think you could really do street photography inside your house. Somethings that I like to do is still shoot street photography style inside my house, but ultimately you’re going to be more stimulated being out and about in society.

What is a street photographer? In my mind, a street photographer is like a visual sociologist of the streets. Visual sociology.

Why Kill Yourself?

A theory towards modern day times; people who take too much drugs, smoke too much weed, drink too much alcohol, etc.… What are they doing to themselves and their body? There’s slowly but surely killing themselves!
