Imperfect Beauty

Why imperfect is more beautiful.

I just got these new jeans from Old Navy, which only cost six dollars on the clearance rack. They are this interesting very light wash denim jeans, that is acid washed, and bleached. And I really love the way they look. Why is that? I like the imperfections. That the white bleach marks against the light denim is fascinating for me to look at it, and also, the more I look at the jeans, the more mysterious and interesting it becomes.

Why I really wanted a black paint film LEICA MP camera

One of the main reasons why I wanted to upgrade my film Leica M6 camera into a black paint film Leica MP camera what is the ability for the black paint Leica MP to patina. That is, the coating for the camera was black paint, but the body itself was brass-bronze. And it was so cool, because the more you used the camera, the more that the black paint would wear off, and the more you could see the beautiful brass underneath. And this was a great aesthetic concept, as typically, the more you use something, the worst and uglier it becomes. But with certain things and objects, the more you use it, the more beautiful it becomes. This is the philosophy of wabi-sabi, or patina.

HENRI NECK STRAP MARK IV

The same is with leather goods. The more you use leather, The more supple, and beautiful it becomes. The natural oils of your body merge with the leather, and it becomes distinct with your own. This is why people love leather so much, as it is a material that becomes more beautiful over time, and the more you use it, the better it becomes. This is also my personal impetus on creating HAPTIC straps, to create beautiful tools and objects, that become more beautiful overtime. And the more you use it, the more pride you get in it.

Why cars are a tricky subject

Cars are interesting, because both cars, the more you use it, the worse it becomes. I suppose the only closest thing is older classic cars, because the longer you own them, in the older they become, the more sought after they become, and also the price of them goes up. For example, it seems that at this point classic Porsche cars are becoming a prized commodity, and the price of classic Porsche 911 cars keep going up, even though they are very old. The same goes with classic Ford Mustang 1969 cars.

One interesting innovation is Tesla cars, because even though the hardware does not change, the software does. That overtime, the software of the car will get better. However still, in the long run, the price and the value of an individual Tesla car will only go down. For example, consider the original 2013 Tesla model S cars, which retailed around $80,000 brand new, but I’ve seen them go for as low as $25,000. even if you buy a brand new Tesla model S plaid today, which retails for close to $120,000, the price will probably only go down in the long run.

Do people become more beautiful overtime, or more ugly overtime?

There is typically a cult of the young, that everyone wants to be forever 25 years old. The funny thing is when we are kids, we want to hurry up and grow up, but once were older, we want to reverse the wings of time.

It is also different for men and women, that is, up to a certain point, the older a man becomes, the more sexy he has seen. For example, George Clooney was a nerd in his 30s, but when he turned 50 years old on words, he was seen as a sex icon. Keanu Reeves seems to also have a similar effect, that is, when he was seen as neo in the matrix series, he was seen as a comedically bad actor. But, now that he became John wick in his 50s, with long disheveled hair and facial hair, she is now seen as very sexy.

With women, it see you from a basic perspective, women are at their peak in their 20s, dirtiest, maybe even 40s. This is considered from a purely sex perspective. But I actually think that in someways, women become more beautiful and charming as they get older into their 50s, 60s, 70s, and even 80s, when their beauty becomes much more subtle, and it becomes more about how they carry themselves, and the way that they interact.

For example, take my laughing lady photo. I consider the woman very beautiful, even though she was in her 80s. Older women tend to have more character than younger women, and in some ways are more beautiful.

We are more interested in attracted to people with character flaws, than the sincere goody two shoes

When we watch media, who are we more interested in, the flawed yet enigmatic character, or the boring goody two shoes? We disdain boring people, we prefer the imperfect yet interesting people. even though we say we want nice people, and kind people, our revealed preferences show that we actually in fact prefer controversial, and interesting people.
