Abstinence Over Moderation

In praise of abstinence over moderation:

You cannot be “a little kosher”(Nassim Taleb in ‘Skin in the Game’ book, read his essay on Medium outlining his thoughts here). Similar, you cannot cheat on your wife “only a little”. Also according to Alcoholics Anonymous, even a little bit of alcohol can cause a relapse.

Therefore it seems wiser to promote abstinence than moderation. Moderation isn’t empirical (is smoking “just once a day”’healthy’ for you?), or best to not smoke at all (abstinence)? If you’re truly kosher, you cannot eat bacon “in moderation”.
