WHAT CAN YOU CONTROL, WHAT CAN YOU NOT CONTROL? STOICISM

Stoicism 101:

Focus on what you can control, not what you cannot control.

What can you control?

You can control your courage. You can control how you act.

What can you NOT control? Fate. Life.

Become stronger

Become stronger, harder, and more indifferent to fate. How do you do this? Through training [‘áskēsis‘ in Ancient Greek]. The basic notion is this:

If you wanna get stronger in life, you must train to become stronger!

Super simple!

Never stop training

COWARD

“Askeo” in Greek. Essentially you gotta work hard. Hustle hard. Become stronger. Literally to grow a thicker skin and hide [“askos” in ancient greek].

How does one grow a thicker skin? To expose yourself to difficulty, hardship, and pain. The pain is a stimulus to growth. Let us not get suckered like the followers of Epicurus who said:

Let us avoid all pain.

No. We new stoics — we delight in pain. Why? Pain is a necessary stimulant for our growth!
