Create Your Own Photo Platform and Social Media Service

Far more interesting to build your own photography social media service (through your website, blog, app, online app, service, etc) than to simply be a social media slave to InstagramFacebook:

Making your own Instagram

Rather than doing the routine ‘1 photo upload a day’ on Instagram to appease your followers, why not just upload 1 photo a day to your own website?

For example, my portfolio canvas page (https://erickimphotography.com) — I can do the same as Instagram — uploading 1 photo there a day. And also the good thing about keeping this stream of images on your own website is that it allows you to actively curate your portfolio before you’re about to upload and add something to your website.

How to add your commentary and thoughts

Simply do this through your own blog. Signup on bluehost.com and install WordPress.org

A blog is by far the most under-rated thing out there.

ARSBETA.COM

One of my goals to fight this silly Instagram trend is to create a service and platform of my own: ARSBETA.COM

Essentially it is the upside of social media for photographers without the downside. You don’t worry about silly likes or follower numbers. Rather, you are given honest feedback and critique from other photographers (crowd sourced) that is ‘double blind’ (not a popularity contest, others don’t know who you are and which photos are yours, and you also don’t know who they are):

What new innovations have yet happened in photography?

For me, my primary innovations are:

  1. My blog
  2. My YouTube Channel
  3. Open Source
  4. ARSBETA.COM
  5. Why App? (Zen of ERIC KIM)

The question:

What new innovations have *YOU* yet developed or created or done in photography?
