Besides utilitarian aims and ends, why NOT pursue your passion?

1. Money

If my passion is stamp-collector, probably not the most lucrative passion. But the question is:

How much do you personally care for money?

If you are money hungry; that is totally cool. You just gotta be honest with yourself. The only danger is these people who are pseudo-woke who think money is evil and the devil, but they pursue egalitarian-utilitarian ends instead. To me this is disingenuous.

2. A greater purpose

The upside of pursuing your passion:

You become super-human.

Why? Most humans think too basic. Car, money, savings, retirement, blah blah blah. Wouldn’t you rather devote your life attempting or creating something so insanely epic that every day of your life is phenomenal? That every new day you are re-born, it is a PRIVILEGE to pursue your passion with great zeal, determination and wise foolishness?

3. You ain’t gonna die

This is where stoicism and asceticism is good:

When you know you got nothing to lose, then you can take the risks to gain everything.

4. You will never lose motivation

Internal motivation is the best. When you are driven by your passion, you don’t gotta get nobody else to ‘motivate’ you. Why? Because you are self-motivated!

Once again, money, riches, rewards, likes and social approval can NOT be stimulus to your creative activity. It must be something greater. Your passion!

5. My life story

What are my passions? A simple list:

  • When I was a kid, I loved to draw, paint. Star Wars, machines, robots, etc.
  • I loved physical culture. Striving to become more physically dominant, strong, and alpha.
  • Philosophy: talks on philosophy, philosophical debates with others or myself
  • Blogging. Started blogging in the early days of Xanga when I was in high school. Inspired by MADDOX. Hugely fun and entertaining to myself!
  • Photography. Photography is like breathing. Or it is another augmented form of vision and art. I feel MORE when I shoot a photo of something and capture it. Shooting a photo is like eating a piece of steak; it grows and augments me

6. How to pursue your passion in life

Practical thoughts and ideas:

  1. First of all, you don’t need external approval for something. I say don’t even share your passions with others. Why? When you tell others what your passion is, you are probably less likely to do it. And who knows, when you talk with someone else, are you just feeding them an answer THEY want to hear? Self-introspection and self-meditation on what your passion in life is far more robust.
  2. What would you do with all your time and life if you could never increase your income (or decrease) your income? In praise of universal basic income for artists and creators. This then means what you create is truly for yourself, not to please others
