WHAT’S THE POINT OF MONEY IN A POST-MONETARY SOCIETY? I think we are currently seeing vestiges of this impending future. A future of Capitalism 2.0. Less focus on money. More focus on… something else?

What do we really need money for?

It seems to me, money is nothing but codified human labor. Manual (with hands) human labor.

Programmers program with their hands. Laborers build houses with their hands. Janitors take out the trash with their hands. So much human labor and work is still insanely manual.

Post-fiat currency?

Faith-based currency is “fiat” currency. The latin is ‘fido‘: to trust, put reliance in, confidence in. From the proto-indo-european “bʰeydʰ-“, which means to trust, compel, and force.

Why do we put faith in the US dollar?

Let us ponder … why do we put faith in the US dollar?

Well, effectively when we put faith in the US dollar, we are putting faith in the US GOVERNMENT. Also, we are putting faith in the US military, which currently has a hegemony [leader] over the whole world. As long as America is the military power-house on planet earth, the US dollar will always reign supreme.

Will the planet have less faith in America?

Not at least for this lifetime. It seems:

Chinese parents send their rich Chinese kids to America. This is true skin in the game. If Chinese people (or China) really believed in China, they wouldn’t be sending their kids here, or buying homes in Vancouver or the Bay Area.
I predict the EU will eventually collapse, or at least… slowly dissolve. I am not personally gonna put any faith in the EURO. Perhaps the UK is smart to distance themselves and focus on the British pound. If the future looks anything like ‘Children of Man’, I think the UK will be covered in the long-run.
The world is addicted to technology. Besides China, Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google run the planet. As long as American tech companies rule the planet, America will be on top.

What do we really need or want money for?

For me,

Money is good for meat
Money is good to pay rent
Money is good to buy a laptop and digital camera.

Besides this, it seems people use money as a shortcut for power-flexing. Or to control other humans and their labor and hands. But if you don’t really care to flex in front of others, or if you don’t care to control other humans… what do you really care for money?
