Impatience is a Virtue

I’m impatient. I hate waiting.

We’re always taught patience is a virtue. But what if that is wrong?

If we were patient, we would still be stuck with dial up 56k modems. Our human Impatience for waiting led to the innovation of broadband, high speed internet. Which led to 4g, and upcoming 5g.

If we are overly patient in life for the future, it will never come. We need to be Inpatient, and start building the future now.

At the same time, realize that growth is often gradual. Note redwood trees. They suck up nutrients from the soil with their roots, intake the sun, partake in photo synthesis (light synthesis) to grow as tall as skyscrapers. Trees apparently never stop growing, unlike us petty humans.

The fun thing with technology, information, and the internet — we can grow at a much more exponential rate than normal organic beings.

If you want to become an entrepreneur, cultivate your impatience. Stop talking, start doing. Some simple ideas:

  1. Publish an imperfect blog post. Just get the idea out there.
  2. Don’t rely on collaboration. Do it yourself, and don’t rely on editors. Edit, design, and publish by yourself. Be your own Swiss Army knife.
  3. Just do it. No thinking. Just do. Don’t think of an ideal workout plan, be impatient to go to the gym… do crunches and pushups in your own apartment. If you want to start your own photo blog, don’t wait until things are perfect. Make one now on WordPress.com.

Don’t wait around. The best way to create your own future is to do it. Now.

BE STRONG,
ERIC
