What’s your minimum viable income necessary to “satisficing” your life?

The goal ain’t to get rich

The goal—

Make an art work which lasts (almost) forever.

And more simpler goals:

Pay rent, and buy meat.

Minimum viable?

Truth be told, ever since I was a kid, I never had any interests in getting rich. What I thought—

I just don’t want to work for “the man”. I would prefer to be self employed, to have 100% freedom over my time, my life, and personal activities.

Obviously there were some things I enjoyed money for:

Fixing up and upgrading my car (1991 SENTRA SE-R, with the SR20DE engine)
Buying speakers and stereo equipment
Buying sneakers
Buying clothes
Buying food

But that was pretty much it. I liked hanging out with my friends, playing sports, and funny enough— I didn’t make much art while in high school, but I very much enjoyed blogging ever since high school. I only started to make photos when I was 18 and graduating high school, getting my first canon power shot point and shoot digital camera as a graduating gift.

The love of money as a poison of society?

It was only when I graduated college and got my first job when the notion of making money seemed more interesting. I was comparing myself with my peers. While I was making $40k, my friends were making $60k, $100k, my boss was making $200k and so forth.

Fast forward a bit and I got a taste of what it felt like earning $200,000+ a year. and truth be told — it wasn’t that big of a deal. It didn’t really feel anything meaningful or substantial to me. Ultimately I’m just interested in philosophy, art, and arts creation.

Retire now.

I think it’s in your mental power to retire now. What does it mean to retire?

Once you got a minimum viable income, you’re good.

Once again, I think it’s wise for us to save. But still— a lot of people save money in order to feel more safe and secure. But it doesn’t matter if you’re a billionaire, you can still feel insecure. And we all know that those who are richest got the most to lose.
