How to Master Mac

Why am I so productive and prolific? Because I have mastered MacOS — the best operating system of all time (shout out to the Apple team, and Steve Jobs). Some tips and guidance:

1. Get the best MacBook laptop you can afford

How to Simplify Your Workflow

Get a refurbished Mac; the most powerful and light you can afford. I am a huge fan of the MacBook laptops (MacBook Air, as well as the MacBook Pro 13” Touch Bar). I personally bought my maxed-out Refurbished 13” MacBook Pro Touch Bar and love it.

2. Master useful hotkeys

There is always a ton of hotkeys that are useful. Just master the useful ones. I suggest:

  1. Use Safari, not Chrome.
  2. Use default Apple Notes, not Evernote
  3. Use iA writer to write blog posts or anything.
  4. Typically alway try to use the default baked-in Apple apps rather than 3rd party ones, because it will always ‘play nicer’ with MacOS, and also … good integration with the Touch Bar (the Touch Bar is actually very useful!)
  5. Use Apple Photos instead of Adobe Lightroom

3. Learn to touch-type

iA Writer is King

Learn how to type without looking at your fingers.

Also, opt for a standing desk, a standing treadmill desk, or do what I do … flamingo-style-1-leg balance, and put your laptop on top of your thigh while leaning against a wall while working and typing.

In other words:

Don’t use a computer while sitting.

I do allll my work either while standing, moving, or crouching.

4. In praise of BETA

Beta is unstable, but more fun. I always opt for the Apple Beta program for all my devices. More fun and interesting to always be on the bleeding edge, even though it is less stable.

I wonder —

An anti-stable life is the best life?
