10 Reflections After 10 Years of Blogging

My first blog post (Hello World) on June 21st, 2010. I suppose my 10 year anniversary has elapsed a bit, but some thoughts:

  1. Blogging is a stream of becoming: There is no such thing as a perfect blog post. The point is to do “recursive blogging”— as you blog, you better understand and know and learn.
  2. Don’t stick to a narrow niche. If I did it all over again, I’d just indulge more of my random personal interests from the get go!
  3. A blog is better when it is personal. Just share your life journey via your blog. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to share your life journey.
  4. Self hosting my blog and installing WordPress.org was the right choice. It is more of a hassle for sure, but you have more control and freedom! More ability to customize, change, fix, modify and adapt it to your own personal liking!
  5. Better to post a half-baked blog post idea than not to post it at all.
  6. There is no such thing as blogging too much. I can sometimes blog up to 10 times (or more) a day and I love it! Contrary to popular wisdom, the more you blog, post and publish, the better.
  7. Only blog about things you truly care for. If this is the case it is very easy to be productive. To produce many creative thoughts — this is the goal!
  8. Publish and update as you’re writing and blogging. The best way to conquer “paralysis by analysis” notions of perfectionism.
  9. Just post anything you would post to your blog that you would otherwise post to social media. Your blog is the ultimate form of social media.
  10. Ignore other bloggers. Disable stats and comments on your blog. Blog carefree, and flow on!

To the next 10 years!
