Dominant vs Nondominant

Towards a new sociology, or way to analyze society:

Thoughts:

In life … it ain’t about race, privilege or whatever — it is about dominant vs non-dominant.

Who is dominant?

Dominus; lord, master. From demh- which means ‘to tame, domesticate.’ This in some sense we must consider:

Who is domesticated and tame in society? And who is the master?

You can earn $500,000 a year and still be a slave

Domesticated and tame … means you earn a regular salary, and you are indebted to your master (company) to keep paying you money. The fear of saying something bad or wrong which will jeopardize your position — losing your job, loss of income, etc.

Who is the true master?

This is where things get tricky:

Who is really in charge, who is the true master?

From a base level perspective, whoever pays your salary is your master. But then… who pays the salary of your boss? The “company” or institution. Then perhaps it is companies and institutions whom are our masters.

A corporation, company or institution doesn’t have a face.

Now the problem:

Who is the face behind Apple, Google, Amazon, Tesla, Space X, Grubhub, Universities, etc?

There isn’t!

Publicly traded companies vs private companies

More trust in In and Out Burger than Apple. Why? If you’re a private company (not publicly traded), your bottom line (profits) isn’t your sole purpose.

Once again let us be objective. What does a corporation want? Not to spread peace, love, joy, equality blah blah blah. No. To maximize profits. To balance the profit-loss scale (P/L).

In praise of private

So we now know we cannot trust institutions or publicly traded companies, or perhaps companies in general. What are we as private individuals to do?
