Why Live in Fear? 7 Ideas of Encouragement

Here are some ways to NOT live in fear:

Stop reading the news and following the news. I propose a 48-hour news fast. Don’t look at any news for 48 hours, and see how you feel (physiologically, emotionally, bodily, mentally, physically). This is a leap of faith.
Walk outdoors as much as [legally] possible. Of course don’t beak any laws. But I propose– walk yourself as much as you can outdoors! For example, even going out for three 5-minute walks everyday (around the block) is insanely beneficial to your mental and physical health. I know I can personally attest when I am outdoors, breathing fresh air, getting some UV radiation on my skin, I feel 1000x less anxious and scared than if I’m at home all day, reading the news or social media. My thought– if people can still walk their dogs, shouldn’t we be able to walk ourselves?
Spirited and encouraging movies. Any film by Studio Ghibli or Miyazaki is good for the soul. Spirited away, Totoro, Porco Rosso, Ponyo, etc is good for the soul. It will re-awaken your inner childlike spirit and sense of wonder!
Comic books. Another tip– comic books and graphic novels are great. I love Calvin and Hobbes [see them here, or a PDF analysis here]. I also found deep respect for MAUS, the graphic novel on the holocaust [illustrated as mice and cats]. MAUS PDF 1, MAUS PDF 2.
Do some insanely physical exercises at home. For example this Pamela Reif 15 minute intense chair workout. Whenever I am undergoing intense physical stress or exercise, I cannot feel fearful. I am just trying to survive the 15 minutes and make it through all the workouts! Or you can just do max reps for bodyweight squats, sit-ups, or pushups. You can also see how I workout from home.
Start a photo project on COVID — either from trips to the grocery store, walks around the block, selfies at home, or just photographing your daily life at home! This is what I’ve been shooting during covid.
Start curating your photo portfolio, make your own photo website. And start uploading photos to arsbeta.com, and get and give real feedback on each others’ photos!

Know it is not your duty to fear. A live where your life goals are NOT obstructed by fear is good.

Simple ideas:

Start your website by registering bluehost.com and install wordpress.org. Keep it simple: your first name last name.com. Or your first name last name photo.com. Build your website.
Start your own YouTube channel. Starting your own YouTube channel is easy. All you gotta do is go to youtube.com and start uploading videos in the top-right corner. Or install the YouTube app on your phone, and upload directly from the app! Ideas: vlog about your covid-19 experiences, make a photo slideshow with iMovie, and use my free beats.
Selfie photo project of yourself at home (stuck in quarantine, etc). Shoot selfies of yourself in different places. In the bathroom, in the kitchen. Experiment with lights. Experiment using the flashlight app on your phone for drama. Just use what you got! Shoot selfies on your phone or digital camera, or even shoot 4K video (or 1080p) video footage of yourself in selfie mode, play it on your laptop, and take screenshots of what you like. Then upload them to arsbeta.com.
Start blogging. Start your own website/blog, and start blogging your ideas! If you wanna keep it hyper-simple, just register on wordpress.com for free. Best to do it through your own website though. Remember– the goal is for you to own your own platform!
