Democratic Photography

Do we believe in democratic photography — photography for all— photography for the masses? Photography that anyone, regardless of socio-economic class can access?

1. Camera accessibility

For the ultimate in camera accessibility, you got:

There’s literally no better “bang for the buck”in photography for stand-alone digital cameras.

2. Anti social social media

Then for social media photography feedback, you got ARS— the first double-blind photography feedback platform.

A free place to share your photos with NO ADS, NO LIKES, NO FOLLOWERS, and NO social media fucking with your self-esteem.

Also being able to get “commissioned critiques”from your photos on arsbeta.com

3. The best computers

Apple makes the best computers. My suggestion is to get a refurbished MacBook laptop for ~$1000.

Or for more budget friendly — it’s insane you can get a BRAND NEW iPad for only $329!! Or you can get great refurbished iPad Pros for good prices as well.

4. iPhone as the “full stack” solution for photographers and visual artists

For the ultimate in mobility, iPhone reigns king by 1000x (1000x better than Google Pixel or any other Android phone).

Consider with iPhone you can:

  1. Shoot
  2. Edit
  3. Share

All-in-one. Insanely simple and streamlined.

5. What now?

Now that we have more or less an egalitarian playing field— what now?

  1. More photographers trying to differentiate themselves by their equipment. I predict as time goes on, Leica camera will continue to thrive as photographers will continue to desire to purchase more exclusive, expensive, and rare camera equipment — to distance themselves from iPhone and other photographers.
  2. More importance for marketing, branding, and differentiating yourself as a photographer and visual artist: It’s truly a photographic meritocracy now — ultimately your merit is what will distinguish yourself.

More to come!
