In today’s world, we are all scared shitless to talk to one another. What’s the future then? Simple — those with social skills shall conquer the planet.
Why social skills?
Almost everything boils down to social skills. Being a sociologist, Let us consider— as a business person, your ability to get deals isn’t based on your intelligence. No. It is your social skills to get people to trust you and your personal judgement.
How does one improve their social skills?
Social skills are a muscle. Either use it or lose it.
In fact, one of my greatest joys in life is the art of conversation. To meet new people, chat with them, get to know them, and also have them get to know me.
Why am I such a chatter box?
To me, it is fun! To chat with others is one of the funnest things! To me a world without having people to talk to is not a world worth living in.
Inter pares
Amongst equals. I see everyone as my equal when I first meet them. But ultimately it boils down to how open minded they are. I really despise close minded people.
Are we all just uber-lonely?
I actually find the biggest problem in modern society is regarding solitude. Most people are just lonely as fuck. To be able to open your heart and soul to others — this is very important.
My techniques
Better to ask open ended questions like:
- What is your life story?
- What are your dreams in life?
- What are your passions in life?
The more personal and deep, the better.
Experiment and iterate!
With anything in life, keep practicing. Iterate. Experiment. Have fun! A life without experiment and fun ain’t worth it.
