Simple ideas to spark some creative energy into your photos:

1. Simplify the shapes and forms to the purest

Break down your color photos into the simple blocks— same goes with your monochrome work.

2. Think values

The gradients of monochrome. The value with the highest brightness, darkness or contrast gets the most attention.

3. Photograph hands

Hands directly as its own subject matter. Also, capturing hand gestures in the overall photo:

4. Simplify

Transform your photos into cubist interpretations to better deconstruct the composition:

5. Mystery

Not telling the full story. To keep much in the dark is better.

6. Surrealism

Make photos that don’t seem “real”.

To make surreal photos think to yourself:

What details can I and should I leave out?

7. Distance

Intentionally try to shoot from a very far distance:

8. Think triangles

Triangle compositions as maximally simple and effective:

9. The “decapitation” technique

Intentionally cutting off the heads of your subjects in the photos:

10. High perspective

Hold your camera high in the air and shoot downwards:

11. Low perspective

Conversely, hold your camera at a low angle and shoot upwards! Vertical (portrait) orientation with your camera here often works well.

12. Allow yourself to indulge yourself in all forms of art and arts creation

In other words:

It’s all good.

My biggest innovations in composition, creativity and art have arisen from “cross pollinating” from everything:
