Composition and Decomposition: Construct and Deconstruct Great Art

We all talk about composition , but why never the negative or opposite — decomposition?

My thoughts:

  1. First find an art work you like
  2. Then deconstruct it — figure out how it works, and break it apart.
  3. Analyze it.
  4. Reconstruct it and sketch the details
  5. Sketch the gist
  6. Go with the flow
  7. Figure out why it’s great, and how to incorporate this into your art work.

A great composition feels like a dance — duo. Yin-Yang

Break it apart, then put it back together.

Keep breaking things apart.

As simple as possible.

Deconstruction also a creative act, or “destructive” act.

To create and destroy — one in the same?
