Thick vs Thin

When is thick good, and when is thin better?

It seems with shoes, the thinner the sole, the better. However, when it comes to skin, thicker skin is better than thin skin.

When it comes to condoms, the thinner the better.

When it comes to male preferences for women, it seems that men prefer women with a thin waist line, and thick legs and features.

When it comes to armor, the thicker the better. We do not want thin armor, to be easily pierced.

When it comes to meat, the more thinly sliced the meat, the easier it is to chew and digest.

When it comes to phones, laptops and devices, the thinner the better.

Armor

It seems as a generalization, the thicker the armor the better. Therefore perhaps when it comes to clothing, which is modern day armor, the thicker the better. We seem to prefer thick jackets (leather), thicker jeans (heavyweight denim).

I’ve also discovered that when it comes to materials like merino wool, the thicker the better. Why? Because merino wool wears so easily, the thicker the material the longer the longevity.

Connection with the ground

The reason why thin soled shoes are better is that it allows more contact with the ground, and helps develop our muscles. The more sensation in our feet, the better.

Similarly speaking, the reason why we prefer thin condoms is that it allows greater sensation.

Thick headed?

When it comes to personality traits, it seems to be thickheaded is bad. But would we prefer the opposite, to be thin headed? Perhaps not. There is actually a virtue to stubbornness.

Context dependent

The tricky thing with these type of generalizations is that everything is context dependent. There is no ultimate right and wrong with these matters, is more a matter of for what situation. So far we must be flexible with certain rules in life.

Therefore I suggest you to figure out this for yourself.

Weather depending

Certainly if it is very hot outside, the thinner your clothes, the better. However, when it is very cold, the thicker your clothes the better. Same goes with socks — thick socks when it is snowing outside, and thin socks when it is hot outside.
