ANTI IN-BETWEEN

Anything which is in between and tries to get the best of both worlds is a bad idea, and a compromise.

ANTI IN-BETWEEN

Podcast

For example, the Porsche Panamera is the ultimate compromise car. It doesn’t look quite as sporty as a Porsche 911, and it only has four seats. Perhaps better to barbell it: have a Prius as your daily driver, and have a Porsche GT 3 as your sports car.

Exaggerations are better

Also when it comes to photography, to exaggerate your perspective is better. For example, better to shoot with a 28 mm or 35mm lens than a 50 mm lens or an 85 mm lens.

Even with movies and films, better to embrace the extremes. For example better to watch a John Wick movie where there is lots of insane killing, rather than a lukewarm action flick.

In praise of attempting a one rep max once a week, then normal every day working out

Also with overall physique and strength and health, perhaps it is better to attempt a one rep max deadlift once a week, then every day working out and grinding.

With productivity, perhaps it is better to check your email once a month then several times a day. This way you have more signal, less noise.

Even with investing, I only check my crypto once a year or once every other year. This way I am not fooled by short term trends, and rather could think the decade or two decade timeline.

Don’t shoot at 0 exposure compensation

Barbell and extremes, which is either very high key photography, or very low-key photography. For example, better to shoot at -2 or -3 exposure compensation to create more dramatic photos, or to shoot +1 or +2 exposure compensation to make very high key dramatic photos.
