The difference: if you focus on “self improvement”, it infers you are already somehow inept, deficient, or need improving. Self development: you’re already great, and the goal is to become greater.

We think we want more money, cars, property, etc… but the real goal is this: augment your personal wisdom to the maximum, and share your wisdom with others.
