Question:

Do you prefer nice photos of reality, or the reality itself?

To photograph means to write with light. Graph literally means to scratch or to embed, or to imprint.

Grapho: to carve, etch, cut into. Basically means to draw, sketch, paint, to write down, etc. Ultimately comes from ‘gerb-‘: to carve.

There seems to be a will to objectivity, but why?

You steer.

My thought:

Our desire to gain the approval and admiration of others.

The joy of making photos 

Now another fun thought:

Why is making photos so fun and interesting to us?

My thought:

Perhaps there is this joy we get in capturing external reality in a frame and being able to share this thing with others!

What is art? Art is just something you create. It doesn’t need to be “artistic”, which we mean to say is “divinely and accurately painted”. 

Perhaps in the past we deified artists, because they seemed godlike. For example, a renaissance painter — not everyone can do that. It requires tedious years of training, and even more years of insane execution and focus. 

But with photography comes the ultimate disrupter. Now literally anybody and everybody cam make art work! An art work as something which you create which is external of yourself and your body. 

What do we desire? More power. But how do we gain more power, and for what?

First and foremost, the less inhibition, the better. To be able to create, flow and stream is the goal. Create and flow like water!

Why composition? Why photography? Some thoughts:

Purity of artistic vision.

Something interesting I’ve noted:

When studying the ancients, there is no concern about “consistency” with their art work. Is this preoccupation with consistency a modern one?

Despite all her ills.

Are we perfectionists, or something else? Meaning:

Perfectionism is just fear or uncertainty, disguised.

Or:

Trying to be a “perfectionist” is simply trying too hard to be “adult like”, in order to please others.

Why is it important to know the difference?

The goal isn’t to fear zero fear… it is simply to not shirk from fear.

A new photo project you can embark on! Street photography inside grocery stores during COVID-19:

A hypocrite: an actor. Someone who ‘fronts’ or pretends to be something they aren’t.

A contradictor: contra (against) dict (talk).

Thus a hypocrite is a faker, whereas a contradictor is someone who says one thing but engages in behavior that he criticizes others for.

Why is this difference important? Let me explain.

What were you designed for? What ends?

Something quite funny for me is this. Asking ourselves —

Who were computers made for and designed for?

Were humans made for computers, or the other way around? This should be the origin of all “ergonomics” research in computing.

Why I love the work of Michelangelo:

Why are we trained to NOT trust or obey our instincts ? What’s “rationality” anyways? Why is logic and rationality seem above emotion, bezerk, gut, and instinct ?

Visual gist:

My definition of success. Speaking fearlessly, creating fearlessly and sharing fearlessly. Success is the quantum of courage you exhibit, not how others react to you.

Who is your authority ?

Authority, author.

Do you own yourself? Are you the author of yourself and your own life?

Don’t obey any authority but yourself.

No. We want to do things. We want challenge, fun, and more.

Be distrustful of anyone (psychologists, philosophers, economics, etc) who say:

The human desire is to do as little as humanly possible, to conserve our energy.

No. We desire to maximally expend our energy! To become more powerful, to gain more, and to indulge more of our desires. To achieve more, create more, and consume more!

Because photography is your life!

Elevate yourself. Never placate others, only yourself.

The ultimate power— physiological power.
