There seems to be a will to objectivity, but why?
We desire control over reality?
My theory:
We desire objectivity because we fear a subjective, uncertain, cruel and irrational world.
Is there really such a thing as “objectivity
Objectivity means:
There is one immutable and true perspective.
Typically when it comes to objective arguments, we cite science, physics, math, statistics. etc.
Objectivity as irrefutability ?
It seems we want to become irrefutable. Why? We believe ourselves to be the apex of knowledge, wisdom and understanding. I believe the human bias is this:
I am the apex of right and wrong, and everyone who doesn’t do or believe as I do is an idiot, and should be educated otherwise.
Even Plato said something like “every man desires to become a tyrant of all other menâ€. Perhaps this is where the will to objectivity comes from.
