Photography Creativity Tips, Assignments and Ideas

Dear friend,

I just taught my first two online photography workshops on creativity and had soooo much fun. Some lessons and ideas which can re-spark passion in you:

  1. The art of cross pollination: Don’t get stuck in the ghetto of photography. Allow yourself to indulge in ALL forms of art! Study renaissance painting, sculpture, etc.
  2. Music: to better understand composition, study musical theory. Study notions on cadence, movement, rhythm, composition, structure, and dance! For me, the best compositions have to do with dynamism, force, and power.
  3. Artistic barbell: do extreme walks in nature and the city. The rhythm and the bifurcation between the both will give genesis to new creative ideas and thoughts.
  4. Visual gist: art isn’t about precision. Just give others a gist, a flavor, a movement in your pictures.
  5. Become a renaissance man. Become the next Leonardo da Vinci. Use photography, video, the internet, 3d, augmented reality, virtual reality etc … to become the ultimate visual artist and photographer!
