YOU ARE WHAT YOU PHOTOGRAPH

Dear friends, a motivational photo thought:

You are what you photograph, and you photograph what you are.

The point ain’t to photograph anyone else who isn’t you, but to photograph YOU. To photograph your own life. Your own wife. Your kids, your partner, your friends. Your daily activities.

And towards what ends do you photograph? Because as you photograph, you are giving a kiss to everything you shoot. Meaning, photography is signaling gratitude towards yourself in your life in terms of what you value. The photographer photographs what he or she values.

And why share what you value? Because it brings you joy to share what you value, and it also inspires and motivates others to share what they value. And the more you can get others to share what they value, the more you can change the world!

Photograph what you value

The assignment:

This week, photograph what you value, and share your best or most meaningful photos to arsbeta.com or upload it to your own website/blog.

Also another fun activity:

Go back and look at the photos you shot BEFORE Covid-19 happened and AFTER Covid-19 happened. Reflect, meditate, and write and talk about your thoughts on your own blog.

For a quick and easy blog, just register on wordpress.com, or the self-hosted route (bluehost.com) and install wordpress.org. For more details on building your own blog, check out my Udemy Course or register for my upcoming MARKETING MASTERCLASS.

Photo motivation

It seems the greatest joy we get is when we are in the act of photographing. To disregard whether the photos are ‘good’ or ‘bad’ seems to be a wise way forward.

If you tend to be overly self critical when it comes to photography, just allow yourself to shoot lots of ‘shitty’ photos, just for fun, in the spirit of like how a child would! Imagine if you give a kid a camera (digital camera, point and shoot), how much fun they have running around and photographing everything. They don’t care to share their photos to social media (they have no idea what this is), and they may or may not be interested in sharing their photos with others.

Photography is play!

What is inspiring and motivating me lately

  1. Reading the philosophies on physiology and health by Galen. Pondering and meditating more about the connection between physiological health, creative productivity.
  2. Photography is one of the most underrated forms of artistic creation. Considering the new iPhone as a signal that the future isn’t about better smartphones, but more life-integrated cameras! In other words, the iPhone is just a camera for the masses. In other words, focus on your photography.
  3. Contemplating on the futures of photography; not being technology, but innovative new ways of sharing, publishing, and creating.

Every photo is equal to every other photo.

And also,

The best photos are the photos yet to come!
