LIFE VLOGGER
Just vlog your life!
3 pounds of meat under 30 minutes LESSONS AFTER MY FIRST EPIC FOOD CHALLENGE FLOOR DUMBBELL PRESS -
The ideal neighborhood is a neighborhood where you could easily walk around and shoot street photography
Northpark, San Diego as a great location.
-
Skin & Health
Healthy skin as a sign of good health.
-
When you’re not super pumped about something, just delay it.
Obvious values are super obvious.
-
TIMING
Much of life is all about timing. With investments, having kids, street photography, etc.
-
Black is healthy
Just drink black coffee. It is far healthier than any strange milk substitutes, or sugar added.
-
I buy it for the packaging
Whenever I buy coffee, I always buy it for the packaging. It is like a piece of visual artwork on my coffee counter. I wanted to be beautiful, so when I look at it, it uplifts me.
-
I’d rather do an imperfect job than *no* job
My “satisficeing†way of living. Better to clean frequently (not “perfectlyâ€) than just do it very infrequently, but “perfectlyâ€.
-
I don’t like heavy things.
Heavy coffee cups are also bad.
-
A very good white paper should be very short
Be very skeptical of very long papers. Just because something is longer does it mean that it is more intelligent or better.
Bitcoin white paper only 8 pages!!
Similar that great poetry or aphorisms are very short, yet profound. Also, great essay should be relatively short, distilled, to the point, yet simple and elegant. Avoid long and (boring) books and papers. If it bores you, it probably isn’t good or true.
-
Grills are Clutch
If you cook a lot of meat often, outdoor grills are super clutch. Cooks the meat faster, less mess, less smoking up the house.
Also, something very lovely about eating outdoors on your patio or backyard — al fresco (in the open air) dining.
-
Be very greedy when others are afraid
A riff off of Warren Buffet.
When others are fearful, greed is good.
-
Bring back jeans
Too many guys wearing shorts now.
-
Oil(Gas) & Food
The two things which are essential to Americans.
-
Follow the founder, not the thing.
Stick with the founder, rather than the company. For example, I am long Tesla and SpaceX, because Elon musk is still the CEO of both companies. The reason why Amazon may be in trouble is because Jeff Bezos has left the company as the CEO.
-
Don’t do things, unless you feel 100% confident in it
Even though you’re 100% confident, you may be wrong. But that is not the point. I think confidence and risk taking go hand-in-hand.
-
Maybe it is better to invest in travel than in foreign things
Maybe instead of buying more stocks, just use that money to buy flights, Airbnb‘s and hotels?
-
Don’t buy or invest in meme coins
Why? Because memes don’t last.
-
If you’re rich enough, then what is the point of investing?
Perhaps the greed and lust for greater gains?
-
GOOGLE IS A SECURITY COMPANY.
For example, I trust putting my passwords, and two factor authentication into Google, than any other service.
A great opportunity for Google to create a crypto wallet. I would far trust putting my cryptocurrency in a Google wallet than any other wallet.
-
Right Now Might be a Good Time to Buy Chainlink
Best to buy when the market is down.
-

PHYSICAL FLEXING
More virtuous to flex your physical body, rather than flex how rich you are, or your possessions.
Why? Technically muscle building is more egalitarian. However buff you get get is more dependent on time, and effort, whereas getting very very rich is often a result of inheritances, or starting life with a leg up.
-

ARE YOU MORE INTO YOURSELF OR OTHERS?
More virtuous to be more into yourself, then overly inquisitive or curious about others.
Also, rather than being too interested in the tabloids, become your own tabloid.
-

How to Make More Artistic Photos of Your Kids
Far more fun and meaningful to make artistic photos your kids, rather than factual ones.

First of all, I say focus on composition. Strive to make dynamic compositions, skills in street photography will help.
Find interesting backgrounds

Also, shoot your photos as dark as possible, and photograph your kids against interesting backgrounds. For example, I like high contrast graffiti backgrounds.

Subtle details

I also say, I love the subtle details. For example, the silhouette of your kids hand against the background.
-

Once you got the perfect life, then what?
I say just focus on philosophy, powerlifting, exploring and traveling, and sharing your insights with others.
-
I prefer cats over dogs
I enjoy cats and their personality, how they make things a little bit more fun and interesting, how they have a personality of their own, and how independent they are.
-

Why having a kid will improve your life
After having Seneca, my life has become 1000 times more interesting, meaningful, fun, and also photographically productive.

North Park, San Diego is a very cool neighborhood
Surprisingly a good amount of grit and grain in the neighborhood.
Very walkable, really great coffee shops and restaurants, and a cool bohemian vibe of people. Also great light, sun and cool breeze. IMHO much cooler than Paris.

WHAT MOTIVATES ME.
Personal curiosity in things, my abilities, and questioning common knowledge.

ERIC KIM GYM GOPRO FLOOR DUMBBELL PRESS
In praise of doing dumbbell press (off the floor) instead of on a bench:

The upsides:
- Safer: You don’t need a spotter. If you can’t move the weight, you cannot move the weight.
- Better leverage: You have better leverage when doing an extreme back arch, on the floor. Maximal grip.
- You can lift more: Being able to move greater weight is more fun.
- To get the dumbbell on top of your leg, just ask someone to help you lift it.
- Bench press (flat bench press) seems like a bad idea. Even the bodybuilder Jay Cutler didn’t use bench press, but used dumbbell press instead. If you are going to do a bench press, just do a ‘floor bench press‘.

HOW TO EAT 3 POUNDS OF MEAT UNDER 30 MINUTES
My experiences with my first food-eating challenge:
So how did I do it?
Simply put, this was my strategy: intermittent fasting throughout the day, which means no breakfast or lunch. And I started the challenge around 9 PM, when I was maximally hungry.
Also, at around 6 PM, about three hours before the challenge, I went to the gym for a quick pump. In addition, the whole week prior, I’ve been powerlifting pretty hard-core at the gym. On Monday I did a one rep max for my squat, and on Wednesday I did a one-rep max for my sumo deadlift.

Also, it was good to have morale support (Cindy came, and recorded the whole thing on the GOPRO).
Practical strategies
Also other strategies:
- Throw all the meat in the hotpot to cook quickly.
- Once the meat is done cooking, take it out and put it onto the plate to let it cool (the difficult thing was actually eating hot meat which burned your mouth).
- Leave all the carbs towards the end (the rice, the noodles, etc).
- Spicy miso seems the best, the spiciness helps cut down the fat and helps you process the food.
- Sambal (spicy sauce) was good to dip your meat in.
- Stay focused. Also, eating while standing was helpful.
How did I feel afterwards?
Surprisingly, I felt great. The hardest thing was actually being able to chew all the meat that quickly. My personal record is eating 5 pounds of meat in one sitting, so eating 3 pounds of meat was actually pretty easy. The hardest part of the challenge was the time limit: technically I ate 3 pounds of meat in 20 minutes, and it took me another nine minutes to finish the rice and noodles.
Why did this challenge interest me?
The reason this challenge was so interesting to me was this: I thought I could actually do it. For example, typically all these funny food challenges as you see involve eating really unhealthy things, like drinking a 10 pound milkshake in under 10 minutes, or eating the spiciest jalapeño pepper. Yet, this challenge was about 80% about finishing 3 pounds of meat, and I like beef.
Also the funny thought is this: I think I like audacious challenges. For example, it actually does take some sort of courage, and ridiculous audacity to attempt eating 3 pounds of meat under 30 minutes. Also, I’m a natural comedian and showman, so I wanted to put on a funny show for everyone else at the restaurant.
In addition, this Tabu Shabu in Northpark San Diego, has yet had somebody finish the Godzilla challenge, in two years. So there was this interest I had and being the first.
What if I couldn’t finish the challenge?
If I feel that the challenge, I would have to pay around $200. Yet the money thing didn’t really influence me at all. I was just more interested in the challenge of being able to finish it. Testing my limits, and seeing if I could do it.
An efficient way to eat?
Being passionate about powerlifting, and lifting weights, I almost wonder if it is a good idea that on the days where I hit a new personal records in my squat or deadlift, that actually continue trying these challenges.
The hardest part of the challenge was not eating the meat, but it was actually in the last 10 minutes, to finish the two bowls of rice, one with the porridge, and the noodles. I have not eaten carbs or rice for almost a decade. I’ve been pretty hard-core carnivore/keto diet for the last decade.
Powerlifters should get into competitive eating?
When watching documentaries on powerlifters, people like Eddie Hall, it seems they spend in an insane amount of money on food. Maybe these powerlifters who just want to eat an immense amount of meat should just get into these competitive food eating challenges.

M PROCESSOR OVER A PROCESSOR
The M series processor is insanely good and fast. For example, the performance of the M1 chip in my iPad Pro feels at least 1000 times better than the A15 ship in my iPhone SE.

Anti Clocks
It seems the best way to live is without clocks. No watches, no clocks around the house.
