How to Become a More Daring Photographer

They took the soft, boring, easy, and risk-averse route.
What is the main takeaway for us then?
Opt for daring.
What is true daring?
A true break is a break from the past. To have the courage to be able to posit your own ideals of success NOT from what has succeeded in the past. Carte blanche ideals.
How to become more daring as a photographer?
First, I say–
Let your self-worth and self-esteem NOT be based on social media, likes and followers … but rather … having the courage and the daring to posit your own ideals of success for yourself.
This means, to look at your own photos and see progress in your own photography. To be less pessimistic, and more optimistic as a photographer. It takes more courage to be optimistic than pessimistic.
Think future, not retrospectively
Retro is bad. Best to think about the future.
For example, don’t just think about photography and social media. Think about photography and the blockchain. The blockchain is essentially de-centralized internet 3.0.
What to invest in?
Invest more in your own personal life experiences. Travel. Buy experiences, not stuff.
Why experiences? Experiences are ephemeral, but more interesting, exciting and fun than just getting stuff.
Experiences (at least the memory recollection of them) increase over time, whereas the value of stuff DECREASES over time.
How to become more daring?
To become a more daring street photographer means:
Shoot more photos that put yourself at risk.
90% of street photography is about courage and risk taking. I say the worthiness of a street photographer isn’t how ‘good’ their photos are, but the risk they took in order to shoot it.
In other words:
Your value as a street photographer is dependent on your appetite for risk.
Take more risks, the real secret to happiness.
