Dear friends,
Some photography ideas for you:
1. Make a slideshow
The first idea is make a photography slideshow with your recent photos– just drag and drop them into iMovie.
You can add music, or keep it silent.
The upside:
You can stream more photos, kind of like a mini-movie, instead of showing the simple ‘one photo at a time’.
Making a slideshow is a hyper-form of photography publishing, especially when you keep the duration of each photo only .5 seconds or so.

2. Don’t separate your personal life from your photographic life

Why do a separation between your personal photos and your ‘professional’ photos? To me, it is the same thing.
Just share what you’ve been shooting. Just shoot it all; photograph yourself, your kids, your partner, your daily activities, what you eat, etc. Imagine it like doing a full live-stream of 24-hours of your day, but just do it with your camera.
3. RICOH GR IIIX

THE GR3X is perfect. I’ve literally been the most photographically productive in my life. Also shooting high contrast black and white photos in (EXTRA) small jpeg mode. It makes uploading my photos waaaay faster, importing my photos waaaay faster, sharing my photos waaaay faster, etc. I feel like my photography is in turbo PLAID mode.
And if you’re curious whether to get Ricoh GR III or GR IIIx, just get the GR3X. ERIC KIM APPROVED. Pair it with an ERIC KIM WRIST STRAP II and call it a day.
4. The simplest photography workflow

Just shoot extra small jpeg, and import your photos into Apple Photos, and export it into your dropbox folder on your laptop. It seems the fastest, easiest, and most streamlined.
The ideal is to never fall behind on your photo editing process — to never have a backlog of your photos. To be able to shoot much in a day (500+ photos), and also be able to process all the photos in the same day, or the day after.
And then upload them all to your WordPress media library (blog), then blog them, and share them.
5. Share more photos

This is what I’ve discovered is the downside of social media:
The emphasis you must upload your (1) best photo in order to maximize your likes and comments.
Social media is not good for sharing lots of photos. Also not good for the algorithm.
But … do you want to optimize your life for the algorithm or the other way around?
I say share wider edits (gallery view in WordPress), directly on your own blog. Treat it more like ‘live streaming your photos’ than anything.
6. More macro photos

Shoot more macro. Macro photography has opened up a huuuuuuge new world of opportunities for me. Even the new iPhone’s have macro mode, maybe experiment with it.
GR III/IIIX have great macro modes, even the older Ricoh GR II (which I loved using in P mode with the flash).
Macro will offer you more photo opportunities, of things in your everyday life.
7. Get some vibram 5 finger shoes
I just got a pair of Vibram 5 finger (EL-X) and I love them. These may be the best and perfect street photography and hiking and world traveling shoes.
Also, best for deadlifting at the gym, and doing squats and any other workouts.
A few years prior I had the 5 fingers KSO (keep stuff out) model which worked well, which is also great. The upside of the EL-X is that it is more minimalist of a design, which is superior because it has more ground feel, easier to slip on/off, and doesn’t have a strap. Also lighter.
8. iPhone thoughts
After trying to like the iPhone Pro, I really didn’t. Currently got the iPhone SE and prefer it much more. I prefer the smaller screen, the smaller size, the curved edges, and the better ‘bang for the buck’ value. My current thought is spend less time on your phone, more time on your laptop.
9. Exciting shows and cinema
The new HALO series looks quite cool, as well as the new BATMAN.
10. Random thoughts

- Better to buy a Tesla Model S Plaid than a house.
- What we desire in life is not more exotic places, better homes, or better cars… but greater adventures and challenges.
