To study composition means to steal visual inspiration from anywhere and everywhere.
1. Active studying means to deconstruct
Not to passively intake, but to actively deconstruct:
To steal inspiration from the greats. Like Archimedes, and math. To study geometry as perhaps more interesting than studying traditional “composition” in the arts.
In other words:
Perhaps we artists should study more mathematics and science and geometry to improve our artistic insights!
Even the greatness of Henri Cartier-Bresson was his passion for geometry and painting.
