You can only critique someone you truly understand and love. This is my personal critique on Henri Cartier-Bresson:

HCB really wanted to be a painter (not a photographer)
Why did HCB give up photography towards the end of his life? Simple — he didn’t really like photography that much. Or he secretly wanted to be a painter, but fortunately/unfortunately ended up being *too good* at photography.
