Whoever is anti Amazon and their labor practices and environmental stuff yet still has an Amazon prime membership or shops at Whole Foods is a virtue-signaling disingenuous person. I personally think Amazon is the shit. Why? It has made everything so much more accessible for me, someone who grew up poor.
1. Capitalism is cruel
Whoever lives in a capitalistic society and likes their iPhone, laptop, WiFi and Netflix and yet is still anti capitalist is a fraud.
2. Better to have a bad job than no job
In today’s brave new covid world, jobs are actually quite abundant. Lots of hiring jobs all over the place.
For myself, I’d rather have a bad job than no job. And I have the experience of working under the table as a kid as a busboy at a busy sushi restaurant. This is where I learned my Spanish … shooting the shit with (under the table) Mexicans and other Latino dudes in the kitchen. This taught me all.
3. Americans are entitled.
Fact … Americans are entitled. We are by far the richest and most prosperous country in the world. Living in Vietnam … even being a top banker you might only make $1000 USD a month. The average university grad from Vietnam (top school) will only make $500 USD a month working at a top tier bank. Compare this with us in the states… even when I made $40,000 out of college this was pretty cush.
4. The more access, the better.
Cindy and I get all our spices on Amazon. And now all our coffee. Sooooo much cheaper than all the gangsters who used to charge an arm and a leg for basic spices. I also am a huuuuge proponent of Stop and Shop on the east coast, and Peapod, their online delivery service. Because of low prices, I can eat meat like a king, and NOT become some sort of emaciated Silicon Valley person.
