Simple tips to get you going!
Switch up the focal length
Experiment with all focal lengths. I’ve grown much as a photographer from 35mm to 28mm to 24mm to (now) 21mm.
Unusual perspectives
Shoot from super low angles, or super high angles. Photograph from the perspective of a frog, or of an eagle.
Perspective is everything in photography.
Get closer
When in doubt, get closer to whatever you’re photographing. Emcrace macro mode (RICOH GR II and III).
Macro will open your eyes to a whole new photographic world.
Walk more
Make it a fun challenge for yourself:
How many steps can I walk in a single day?
10k? 20k? 50k?
The more you walk, the more you think, the more things you witness you want to photograph.
All of the good ideas I’ve ever had came to me while walking.
Cross-pollinate
Study non photography things. Study math, Euclidean geometry, architecture, biology, physics, psychology, philosophy, sociology, computer science, etc. Cross pollinate ideas to give birth to new innovative ideas.
Never stop!
There ain’t no such thing as perfection in photography, art, or life. Keep going; never stop!
