Visual Philosophy

What is the value of images?

Humans are visual creatures

We have two eyes, and much of our evolution has been directed towards coordinating our walking and movement.

Thus, our visual acuity is essential to being human.

Obviously our human eyes didn’t evolve in order to appreciate visual artwork, nor to click on advertisements. However the fact is that we have strong visual powers.

So the question is:

What is the value of our visual powers?

Visual society

Our world is ruled by screens. Phones, laptops, tablets, etc.

And as time goes on, the world is going to continue to become MORE AND MORE visually-oriented.

So what are we as photographers and visual artists to do?

My thought:

Use photography as a tool and means to express more of your own personal philosophies in life with others.

Express your soul through your photos

Do your photos reveal your soul? I feel this is the real task of the photographer-artist– for us to embed our souls into our images.

For us to create images and art-works which reveal a bit of us.

For example, my photos to show a bit of fun and humor:

Saigon, 2017

Or even though I am a happy and optimistic person, I relate deeply with dark moods:

So friend– does your soul reveal itself through your images?
