10 Photography New Year’s Resolutions Ideas

New Year’s is right around the corner. Let us use this opportunity to start our photography fresh and carte blanche (blank slate):

Have fun with it!

Basic ideas:

  1. Delete your Instagram (or just delete all your old photos and start from scratch).
  2. Start your own website/blog (bluehost.com and install WordPress.org). Use this opportunity to start your own personal brand and platform.
  3. Give away or sell equipment you’re not using; zen of one camera, one lens. Maybe buy RICOH GR II.
  4. Shoot every day, any camera. This can be your phone or anything else. Recognize all cameras are good cameras.
  5. Recognize you’re a visual artist. And you’re also a photographer-artist. Learn to take your play very seriously.
  6. Start a personal photography project in your own home city. You don’t need to travel far to make interesting photos. Seek to make the most comprehensive photography project in your own city!
  7. Blog everyday about your photographic process or thoughts. Don’t try to make “good” blog posts. Just write a stream of consciousness, have fun with it! Share your photos, quotes you like or reflect on your photographic journey and process.
  8. Start your own photography YouTube channel. Just do selfie phone videos, and share your ideas on photography. Don’t worry about “haters“; speak frankly and don’t censor yourself.
  9. Start to philosophize more on why you shoot photos. Strive to figure out why you make photos. When you figure out why you make photos, you can discover any “how” to pursue your passion.
  10. Curate your photography portfolio. Choose a selection of your best 10 photos of all time. Also constantly add and remove photos from your photographic portfolio.

You’re constantly in a state of becoming as a photographer

I always love making new goals and setting new directions for myself. It is a way we can keep ourselves inspired, motivated, and encouraged.

Never lose your courage. In photography and life, courage is everything.

BE BOLD!
