HAPTIC INDUSTRIES: The Creative Place to Be.
To start off, HAPTIC INDUSTRIES is the brainchild of Cindy Nguyen. I am just the marketer/promoter.
HAPTIC
Haptic: Relating to touch.
HAPTIC technology: when you touch your phone, and it slightly vibrates– that is a ‘haptic’ response.
In today’s world, we are just touching smooth, glass surfaces. We are no longer touching things with ‘haptic’ responses– like TEXTURE.
To me, I think a lot of our knowledge, wisdom, and artistic insights come from a sense of TOUCH.
1. Memory with haptic responses from our fingers
For example I know for myself– when I write something down with pen and paper, and I can feel the texture of the paper, and move my hands — I memorize whatever I write better.
2. Why have fingers?
We have an insane amount of sensory perception in our fingers. If you have talked to your grandmother, or a local artisan — we learn a lot by doing with our fingers and our hands.
I once read a definition of a human:
A human is a tool-making creature.
We make tools with our hands, and we use the haptic response of our fingers to create these tools. Then we use the tools with our fingers to BUILD and MAKE stuff.
3. Empowering tools
HAPTIC INDUSTRIES is a platform of creating artistic tools to EMPOWER YOU.
HAPTIC EDUCATIONAL TOOLS
We create information tools (books like STREET NOTES, FILM NOTES, and PHOTO JOURNAL) to give you create ideas, and INSPIRATION to spur you to create more art.
Also, we are venturing into mobile technologies, like STREET NOTES MOBILE EDITION — for you to always have inspiration with you.
We also offer free resources like ERIC KIM LIGHTROOM PRESETS to help you fulfill your artistic vision.
HAPTIC EQUIPMENT
Also, we create physical tools like HENRI NECK STRAP, ERIC KIM STRAP, and HENRI WRIST STRAP to encourage you to JUST SHOOT IT. I only design products which I personally use, and create photography tools that will encourage me to shoot more (I often deal with issues of inspiration as well). I create tools that I want to use. For me, photography tools need to look cool, and be functional. HAPTIC INDUSTRIES products and tools follow those two guidelines: function and form.
HAPTIC ART
Furthermore, HAPTIC PRESS specializes in limited-edition art portfolios. These portfolios are timeless art pieces, designed to accrue interest over time.
