A thought:
Technically anything you do does ‘change the world’.
Also —
Even a child who throws a pebble or a rock into a stream or body of water has a ‘ripple’ or an impact.
Life pursuits?
A simple way to live life and approach life:
Do things which maximize your impact, or ripple in life.
Torrent vs stream?
Another thought:
For me, I prefer the insanely epic fire-hose stream of a torrent over a small (yet steady) stream.
So what should I do with my life?
Do anything in your life which you feel makes an impact or a change in the world.
It can be super simple — making photos and sharing them and publishing them online with others.
Activity is the goal
Another more philosophical thought this morning; happiness is not the goal. In fact, a bad position to be in is being a happy servant or a happy slave. Better to be miserable and in the field, and free, then be indoors, in the home in the house, and a servant or a slave.
“House nxxxx, don’t fuck with me. I’m a field nxxxx, go shine cutlery.†– JAY Z
I actually become very suspicious when people talk too much about happiness, either seeking happiness for themselves, or trying to optimize making their life focused to augment the happiness of others.
Why seeking happiness is empty
What does it mean to be “happy“? I think for the most part, for most people, the basic notion is having a life of maximal pleasure, maximal freedom, unlimited money, no concerns about money, unlimited spending power, having all of the best goods, luxury goods, tools, vehicles, homes, etc. No pain or suffering. Only joy.
Why is this pursuit empty? Because all of the pleasure you feel and experience is self contained only within yourself, not beyond yourself.
My ideal:
Be insanely healthy, insanely strong, and channel that strength and power to affect the world.
A lot of people who are miserable are essentially physiologically unwell. If you are sleeping less than eight hours a night, not full of physical vigor, or muscular vigor, you’re in a bad position.
A simple solution, assuming that you’re a pork or ham eater, is in the evening, just load up belly pork belly. See how much pork belly you could eat in one sitting (cook it in a pan, pan fry it) and sleep well. And sleep early.
Affect the external world
One of Seneca’s new favorite activities is picking up stones and rocks of varying sizes, and throwing it into bodies of water. He loves to see the splash.
Sure, he could in theory visualize the splash in his head, but he would far prefer doing it in real life.
And also, this is where I like the idea that you could make ripples, or make waves. When you do something, create something, share it, publish it, or send it, you can create splashes.
The thing is the splash doesn’t need to be that big; any splash is good.
Even when I look at Seneca, he finds it hilarious and it brings him great joy to just throw a rock and see a small splash. This sort of feedback of action and reaction is what he loves to witness.
Take the harder but superior path
I like the idea that the simplest and easiest solution or path is good to enact action and change. However the downside of this approach is that the easier path is often the inferior path.
Example, I really like the idea that people, and more people just start blogging. But in theory, the easiest way to make a blog is either through wordpress.com or just creating an Instagram account. Because technically if you think about it, Instagram is a photo driven blogging platform. A Blog is just a Web log of your activities, and a photo blog is what Instagram is; you create a log of your life experiences with your photos. This was the initial genius of Instagram.
With Facebook, it is all about news. Even if you think about the news feed, whenever you open up the Facebook app, there’s always something you to read. And this is what makes it so enticing and addictive; there will always be something new. Also my personal motivation with my blogs; I like the idea whenever somebody opens up my blog, they can always read or witness or look at something new.
Also the funny thing that discovered is that the concept of “the news†literally means what is new.
New + s = News
Be different
Be different. Life is short. Why follow the herd? You were born to be different.

New Turbo thoughts
- Only go for the gold. Don’t bother going for the silver or the bronze, only the gold medalists are remembered. Michael Phelps etc.
- I have a theory that being in the mountains, being at an elevated altitude, and also being able to see a view of the valley is good for your thoughts. Mountain thoughts.
- 4K is the future; I have a theory that YouTube prioritizes videos that are shot in 4K resolution, also 60 FPS. That means if you want an unfair advantage, invest in an insanely fast Wi-Fi connection at home.
- Biology versus sociology? A thought on my mind is this; does biology or should biology matter? For example, you got all these people doing strange things to their hormones, via unnatural man-made drugs. I think this is bad. Better to just go with what is natural.
Thinking in another language
Also, it is good to think in a different language. My great appreciation of being bilingual in both English AND Korean. There are certain words in Korean which seem more accurate than English, as much of the Korean language is derived from the more ancient Chinese.
For example, there is a notion in Korean called “힘“ (heem) which literally means strength, or more accurately muscle. 힘들어 (HEEM-duhl-uh) means it requires much power and energy force, which is the Korean way of saying “it is tiring.†Therefore, thinking about the phrase in Korean is much more accurate, and precise.
Also, getting sick; in English we call it the “common coldâ€. But this comes from the superstition in the past that cold weather caused colds (it does not). in Korean we say ê°ê¸° ê±¸ë ¤ (gam-gee guhl yuh), which means to catch “gam-gee†(ê°ê¸°).
Very much to what I thought, it is related to the Chinese notion of “chi†(qi), or life force energy.
Anyways, they take away when does this; if you are curious about what a certain word means, or the etymology of the word, just go on wiktionary.org, and search it. This will take you down in creative rabbit hole, which sparks many interesting ideas.
Just share your thoughts
