Currently the new buzzword is ‘sustainability’. But what does this mean?
To sustain … to keep holding on (tenere, teneo).
But this is the question —
What does it mean for something to be ‘sustainable’?
Can disposable things be sustainable?
If you can afford it, disposable things are ‘sustainable’ (financially).
Then the philosophy:
*SHOULD* we use or purchase disposable things?
The best is sustainable
If you build incredible things with the best materials of all time, it is more sustainable.
For example, stainless steel is sustainable because it with stands the test of time. Stainless steel things don’t rust, and do not easily degrade.

For example, even though I hate the iPhone pro, it is sustainable insofar much because the materials are so apex, in theory you should be able to use it for a very long time.
For example, the stainless steel edges of the iPhone pro.
Also because they outfitted the iPhone pro with the best technologies, for example LiDAR, the best battery life, and the brightest most high density screen, it is certainly a device you will not simply throw away.
