Procreation is the goal:
Sex and sexual pleasure as simply as a means to motivate us to procreate.
Ultimately, the purpose isn’t for sex or pleasure for the sake in itself, but instead, to motivate us to procreate.
In terms of procreation, obviously the first one is procreating children. Then after that, the procreation of artwork.
The will to procreate
What drives us to desire to procreate? For myself: my personal vanity, in prizing my genetic fitness, the desire to “clone†myself (children are pseudo clones), and the interest in excitement of raising and growing another human being which is literally created in the image of you and your partner.
Also, notions of legacy. That the best way to be immortal is to pass on your genes to your children, and also hope that they will have their own children, into perpetuity.
