Anti Contentment

Contentment is slave morality, or a pacifying morality and ethos.

Why do we want to become content?

The first thought is why are we taught that contentment is such a good thing?

It seems that the natural condition of man is to be discontent. And this is a good thing, as it motivates him and drive him to go on adventures, attempt new things, and risk new things. Yet our society, church, and morality tells us to be content. Yet, would you rather be a dissatisfied and entrepreneurial man, or a content and happy cow?

Why I hated working in an office

After college, I got my first 9-to-5 office job. The perks were good, and I liked the people there. Yet, I hated office life. I felt like a prisoner.

Let’s assume that I got the advice that I should just be grateful for what I had, given the fact that as a sociology major I got a real job. But if I was easily content, I would never have had any motivation to start my own blog, and pursue photography, my passion.

If I asked people what they wanted, it would just be a faster horse. Henry Ford

For me, it seems that the first mission of mankind is to create new things, to innovate and discover new things, and explore. Yet all of those motivations rest on the fact of dissatisfaction. Once again, the easily satisfied man will just be at home all day, playing video games, watching Netflix, eating microwaved food, and smoking weed and alcohol.

Where has our ambition gone?

I believe in no conspiracy theories. Rather, just a mishmash of randomly occurring events. modern life is more difficult and complicated than it was in the past. Yet modern life is superior to past life.

Well, some people romanticize the past, of the simple “good old days“. yet romanticization of the past is a sign of degeneration. Thinking about the future is a sign of ascending strength.

So what are we to do?

My thought: let us get rid of the notion that anything will satisfy us. If anything, maybe we should seek to be more dissatisfied in life.

For example, there is no car on planet earth that will ever satisfy you. Therefore the idea of getting a Tesla car in order to satisfy yourself as a bad one.

There is no clothing or fashion or objects that will ever satisfy you.

There is no iPhone, laptop, camera, or tool that will ever satisfy you.

There is no amount of success, wealth, money, or gains that will ever satisfy you. And also no matter how great your environment, city, home neighborhood or city, you’ll never be satisfied.

Also, it doesn’t matter how many women you bed, you will still never be satisfied.

Therefore, let us just see discontentment as a good thing, as a will to power, as it will to life.
