When optimizing for decisions in life, don’t try to get suckered into thinking what will make you “happier”(tends to be consumerist luxury items and things). Instead, optimize for your health— the more direct way to be “happier”.
Who is healthier?
The next time you see someone living in a nice ass house, or driving an extremely luxurious car ask yourself:
Does that make them healthier?
We tend to enviously look at others and think — “Wow, if I lived in that house or drove that car, I’d be happy like them”. Same goes with money, possessions, job, position, etc. But instead let us think:
Do those things, possessions or lifestyle cause them to be *healthier* than me?
Health as characterized by godlike sleep, physical fitness (high muscle mass, low bodyfat composition), physical vigor, and physiological good mood and well being. Zen zone attitude and mood. And of course, via negativa health (low stress, low anxiety).
