Department of defense. Defense on football teams (I played outside and middle linebacker when I was a sophomore and junior in high school). The common saying in football “defense wins games†is insanely true.
How do companies get so rich? The American US department of defense. Bose produces noise canceling headphones for the military. Peter Thiel and Palantir works with the US Military. The CIA is about defending America.
Defense is the unsung hero
The problem:
Nobody remembers the defenders.
For example in basketball, Dennis Rodman might have been a more valuable player than Michael Jordan… but to block the ball and get rebounds is seen as not quite as epic and flashy as the high scoring MJ. Also, you never read in the history books the leaders who *prevented* a catastrophic war. Who knows maybe in the future they will see Donald Trump as one of the greatest presidents by avoiding and preventing a global World War III with North Korea.
Financial defense
With money:
*NOT* losing money is 10000x more important than “earning†money.
It is better to save 90% of your income on a $40,000 yearly income than to spend 110% of your income off a $400,000 income. Or better yet:
Save 99% of your income from a $200,000 a year income.
