What is the best camera? Currently it is the RICOH GR III, then probably iPhone Pro. Let me explain:
Maximally small, compact, and always with you
The biggest thing:
The camera MUST ALWAYS be with you, and MUST be easy to shoot with.
We are striving towards an ‘optimal simplicity’ with the camera. We need to shoot directly — “straight line photography”. As minimal interference between ourselves, the camera (tool), and the scene.
Currently RICOH GR III is the supreme camera for this task:
Why iPhone Pro?
After RICOH GR III, iPhone Pro is probably the second best camera. Why? Once again — always with you.
What is the WORST cameras for photography?
- Avoid all DSLR-styled cameras, unless you shoot commercial weddings for a living.
- Avoid all big cameras that are heavy, cumbersome, cause you wrist/shoulder/neck pain, and which you cannot fit in your front pocket.
- Avoid cameras with lots of megapixels: More megapixels, more problems.
- Cameras you are afraid to thrash around. Better to have a camera you feel comfortable ‘using and abusing’, or else you will baby your camera and NEVER take it out and shoot with it! A camera is only useful when you’re shooting it.
SHOOT ON!
