The Photographer as an Image Maker AND Idea Maker

An image is something you see. An idea is also based on the notion “to see”. Thus as a photographer, you’re both an image maker AND an idea maker.

The great liberating idea

If we photographers consider ourselves image makers, then it means that we don’t need to just make photos. We can make all forms of images ALONGSIDE the photos we shoot!

We can make graphic images:

We can also remix our photos, and make hybrid images:

Or we can also sketch on top of our images:

Or of course, we can just make typical photographs:

Or a new innovation I’ve been enjoying — making animated GIF images:

Also, making animated GIF images of OTHER photographers works:

I study the compositions of other photographers to better understand what they were thinking:

And moving images (video):

We can also turn out videos into animated GIF images (like moving photos):

We can make purely graphic images:

Or just plain video:

Or slideshows of your photos:

Lesson: there is still an INSANELY HUGE AMOUNT of new innovations we’ve made in making images. Don’t be left behind!
