How to Become More Interesting

Better to be misunderstood than understood.

People who aren’t easy to read are more interesting?

What makes an interesting person?

Let us consider all these people we are interested in. None of these people are easily decipherable. Perhaps that is what makes them so fascinating?

And it seems for entrepreneurial success in today’s world, being interesting is good. The only bad thing we can do online is to be boring and predictable.

Practical ideas

  1. Don’t follow a certain formula or mould.
  2. Speaks their mind
  3. Doesn’t censor themselves

Avoid being boring

To be boring is to play it safe. Better to speak “brutally honest” truth (from your perspective), and speak your mind freely. Self-censorship is the worst censorship.

Write or vlog how you talk in real life

Don’t be afraid of being controversial and upsetting others. Better to have 99% of people hate you and 1% people really love you, than have 100% of people be “mildly interested” in you.

Differ from others

Share your perspectives which you feel differ from others. Better to be the “devils advocate” than to simply rehash common sentiments.

For example, I am most interested in blogging or vlogging about topics or contradictions which make no sense to me in society. Much of my work is trying to understand for myself:

Why doesn’t this make sense to me, and how can I make it intelligible for myself?

Dare to ask dangerous or foolish questions

Be like a child. Don’t be “politically correct”. Speak your mind, and don’t be afraid of being chastised for being dumb, foolish, or “insensitive”.

Seek to find answers to your own personal questions

Don’t strive to please or impress others. Strive to impress and please yourself. Strive to answer your own questions in life, and share your findings or thoughts with others.

Don’t bore yourself.

The last thing — don’t bore yourself. Only pursue things which personally interest you. If they interest you, they’re more likely to interest others!
