My thoughts on what we really want:
We desire to self-develop ourselves into something further

Upon contemplating what I want to focus on for this year, it seems the best thought is this:
We desire to have the time, energy, resources, and focus to self-develop ourselves (myself, the individual), into something further and something BEYOND.
Perhaps this is also why we have children — we desire to transform our children into augmented versions of ourselves. We perceive we can no longer go further ourselves, then we invest in our children to become what we desire to become. Thus you see all these parents putting insane pressure on their children. Why? Their children is an externalization of their ego.
The ego wants to grow indefinitely

When thinking about the ego, we have been generally taught by Christianity and Buddhism the following:
The ego is bad and evil. If you desire happiness, eliminate the ego at all costs.
However, what if happiness isn’t the ultimate goal we seek? What if our personal goal isn’t happiness– but to simply become more? To become wiser, stronger, more intelligent, and more powerful?
Then if our goal is to become more, happiness is simply an accompanying feeling that we are becoming stronger. But happiness ain’t the end-goal in itself. The end-goal is for us to become more.
Do you prize yourself?

Then if you truly prize yourself and desire to develop yourself into something further, then you do everything in your power to PREVENT yourself from getting distracted by bullshit and other petty things. You see entertainment as entrapment — because the entertainment distracts us, disinforms us, discourages us, pacifies us, and sullies our mind.
Our new focus

Let us be true to ourselves and truly consider —
What do I really desire from existence, and how much courage and audacity am I willing to risk or assert in order to become what I desire to become?
Let this thought drive us forward!
