What Pushes You?

What pushes you forward in life? What motivates you towards creative activity? What motivates you to wake up in the morning?

What pushes you to write, read, think, or create art? Do you create from a source or abundance, or from a source of need?

What pushes me

For myself, I think the primary push is curiosity. Curiosity to better understand, comprehend, and control the outer world (and my inner world). Perhaps it is a will to artistic power and control which pushes me to make photos and also to philosophize and essay on the arts. Perhaps it is also the childlike joy from the act of creation which delights me.

The desire for more

Also, it seems that the desire for more drives and pushes me. More knowledge, deeper wisdom, and the delight in the fight to acquire more knowledge. The joy of the struggle in searching for more.

The desire for growth

Perhaps what also drives me is the desire for growth. To become bigger, more powerful. Also the joy of sharing ideas and knowledge.

Perhaps the notion of insatiability is good here. To be satisfied won’t compel us to move or act. Deep and enlightened dissatisfaction is a good “primum mobile”(first mover).

Never stop moving

It seems that all movement is good. I think in modern times our modern maladies are mostly rooted in the fact that we don’t move much.

Fulfill your desire for movement and change. Walk much. Think much. Listen to music with a good rhythm which compels your feet to dance. Keep your RICOH GR III with you at all times (around your neck with EK NECK STRAP or in front pocket).

Try to figure out what moves or pushes you forth. Then give all free reign to yourself!
