The problem with technology now:
Technology is too focused on data, ‘efficiency’, ‘optimization’, and all these nerdy things.
What should technology be doing for us? Making us MORE ARTISTIC, more curious, and more child-like.
Photography as art-tech
The camera as one of the ultimate technological tools to help empower us to make artwork!
Look at the above photo; no painting could ever look as beautiful as a gorgeous monochrome photograph.
The direction we should take photography:
Less about nerdification about ‘image quality’. More focus on beauty, aesthetics, and making photos which sing to our hearts.
ARS as art-tech
ARS as the first art-tech platform, integrating the best of technology [double blind algorithm] to actually EMPOWER us as artists — eliciting more honest feedback and critiques from the online photography community (the upside of ‘crowd-sourcing’ our ‘cognitive surplus’).
In praise of Apple Tools
Steve Jobs once referred to computers and Apple products as ‘Bicycles for the mind.’ I love this. We must bring this back.
My thought:
Technology as art-tools for the mind.
iPad — not using it as a toy, but using it as a digital art-creation tablet [ProCreate app, and Zen Brush 2].
Laptop: thinking augmentation tool. Also ability to use Lightroom, Photos, Photoshop, and other apps to process photos and CREATE NEW ARTWORKS! Logic Pro X and Garageband to produce new musical artwork. Illustrator to make new illustrated art works. Digital tools to process photos, and also to lay them out, and distribute art works online.
