The 3 Best Gifts for Photographers

Gifts are essential to humankind, ever since ancient Greek culture (Homer’s Illiad and Odyssey). As photographers, gifts are lovely! But what are the best “bang for the buck” gifts that money can buy?

1. RICOH GR II Camera

The RICOH GR II is currently around $500 USD, and the best bang for the buck digital camera which currently exists. And it won’t break the bank. Pair the RICOH GR II with ERIC KIM NECK STRAP or ERIC KIM WRIST STRAP and call it a day.

2. Photography books

If the photographer in your life already has too many cameras and equipment,

Buy books, not gear.

Photography books get better with age. Cameras and equipment get worse with time (unless it is perhaps a film camera, which is more robust to the jaws of time).

Some of my favorite books for photographers printed by HAPTIC PRESS:

3. Experiences

Buy experiences; the best bang for the buck present.

Buy them photography classes, workshops, or travel tickets! Go on a trip together, either domestic or international.

Or perhaps go on a little adventure, and use the money on gas cards!

Experiences stay with us, stuff doesn’t.

Some ideas:

  • Airline tickets
  • Train tickets
  • Photography workshops, classes
  • Photography travel tour
  • Going to a photography exhibition or museum together

Idea: Give an ERIC KIM WORKSHOP as a gift (or attend together!)

Conclusion

Time is the ultimate thing you can give.

We are all given a limited amount of time on planet earth.

Spend more time with your loved ones. No distractions or phones. Engaged conversation, lovely meals together, and share your souls.

We don’t need more stuff as photographers; we need more empowerment, inspiration, and art making!

Once again to recap:

  1. Simple camera
  2. Books
  3. Experiences

The triforce of photography.
