My favorite 20 cities for street photography
- Tokyo (Shibuya)
- Kyoto (Near the Kamo River)
- Saigon (my favorite city to live and work digitally)
- New York City (Lower East Side)
- San Francisco (the Mission district)
- Dubai (Deira and Gold District)
- Manila
- London (East London, Shoreditch)
- Hanoi (shoot around the Hoan Kiem lake)
- Hong Kong (TST area, where Kai and Digital Rev used to shoot a lot)
- Singapore (Arab street)
- Beirut Lebanon (everywhere; Beirut is probably one of the most underrated cities in the world. They used to call it the Paris of the Middle East for good reason!)
- Berlin (any of the hipster neighborhoods. Also like “Mauer Park” and the flea markets)
- Marseille, France: Shoot near the water (study Yves Vernin, Pierre Belhassen, Francois Constant)
- Lisbon, Portugal (the whole city is amazing)
- Amsterdam (beautiful light)
- Istanbul (near the water, also epic light)
- Vienna (any of the hipster neighborhoods)
- Sydney and Melbourne (both excellent for street photography and light! Study the work of Jesse Marlow, Oggsie, Greg Marsden, Trent Parke)
- Mumbai, India: Study the work of Kaushal Parikh and Swarat Ghosh
Of course this list isn’t complete, but it’s my favorite places to shoot street photography all around the globe based on the last 10 years I’ve been on the road.
