How to Look Different.
Not look different with your clothes or exterior appearance, but how you SEE and PERCEIVE the world.
1. Look at the background
Bad photographers only look at the foreground. Good photographers look at the background.
Great cinema focuses on a good story line in the background.
Great photos have a fascinating background and back story.
2. Extreme minimalism
It is very hard to make an EXTREMELY minimalist photo, with no distractions whatsoever.
3. Social critique
Don’t just make photos… make MEANING and social critiques in your photos.
How can you be more CRITICAL of society and the world, as explained through the photos you make?
4. Look for color combinations
Perceive color. Color theory in a nutshell… just think of simple colors, which oppose and contrast one another. Think of the colors of sports teams. Orange vs blue. Red vs green. Purple vs gold.
5. Shoot from a high angle looking down
Don’t just shoot at eye level. Hold your camera high, and shoot down. Simplify your background this way, and show a more unique perspective.
6. MOOD
Somestimes a photo just needs a good mood. Like the green that calms you.
Think of colors as a different MOOD. How does a red photo affect your mood? Or an all pink photo?

7. STUDY SURREALISM
Photographers make boring photos. Make less boring photos by studying surrealism. Make your photos MORE interesting than reality.
8. Study the masters
Most modern photos are boring. Rather find inspiration from the MASTERS OF PHOTOGRAPHY. Classics never die.
Study unorthodox compositions. Look for abberstions from the norm.
For example I am studying composition that BREAKS RULES. Study the unorthodox composition of RICHARD AVEDON…he saw the world differently than others.
