Dear friends,
Today (Feb 19th) is Cindy’s Birthday! Please wish her a happy birthday by buying a bunch of stuff on our Haptic Industries Store.
It really brings her a lot of joy. And if you’re curious, yes that birthday cake does say “HPBD (Happy Birthday) ‘Simly‘ (I guess that is how you write ‘Cindy’ in Vietnam).
Also wish her a happy birthday on Instagram @hapticindustries
In an attempt to be romantic, I also wrote her this little love poem:
—
Honeydew Eyes
Honeydew eyes,
I follow you
Into the depths of the turqoise-blue.

Instagram Video Slideshows
One new thing I’ve been doing is uploading these 1-minute video slideshows to Instagram @erickimphoto
It has been super fun, pairing music with my images. I recommend you to try it out as well. I just use iMovie, add some music, drag in some images, and then use the ‘Flume‘ app on the Mac to upload to Instagram. If you have a PC, you can just use Windows Movie Maker, sync your video on Dropbox or Google Drive, and upload it from your phone.
Poetry
I don’t know why, but I’ve also been inspired by poetry, reading a lot of Horace, and Zen Haiku Poetry (inspired by Basho, thanks to Lyn for the recommendation).
You can read my cheesy poems here:
Tranquil Cafe Day
Today on Cindy’s birthday, we are just enjoying a nice tranquil day at the cafe here in Hanoi. We finished a phenomenal workshop from Hanoi to Sapa, and just moved into a new apartment, which is closer to her new archives (where she does her research for her Ph.D. in Vietnamese History).
Life is beautiful, calm, peaceful, and tranquil. We actually only have 3 months left in Hanoi, and we’re going to try to live it up, and keep you updated.
Enjoy your life
Remember friend, the point of life is to live well. To enjoy that nice coffee, the love of your loved ones, and the quiet moments.
Here are some new articles I just wrote to hopefully inspire you:
- Living a Good Life is More Important Than Photography
- Wear Your Camera Like a Necklace or Bracelet
- Have Your Photos Come to You
Until next time,
Eric
